52 days of national resistance, Ukrainian army doesn’t let the enemy conduct successful offensive, though eastern and south-eastern directions remain tense. The occupiers keep shelling Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, but russians are experiencing lack of advanced missiles seizing Mariupol, therefore they resort to using strategic aviation to drop dumb bombs. No trustworthy information about Black Sea flagship 'Moskva' personnel yet, which suggests that most of naval occupiers are no more alive. We wish the Armed Forces of Ukraine even bigger success all days after until victory. Waiting for the day 53 to highlight the most significant events

Brief facts:

  • Mariupol defenders refused to surrender to Russia's ultimatum
  • Russian invaders are sending the items looted from Ukrainians in Kherson Region to the temporarily occupied Crimea

23:42 President Zelenskyy: Russians are preparing for a large offensive in Donbas

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a daily evening speech that he met today with ministers and senior military to discuss the current situation on the frontlines. According to him, Russian invaders are preparing to launch a large-scale offensive in Donbas, Eastern Ukraine, namely Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Some of the territories of these regions are already occupied, but they want to "finish" Donbas.

Beside that, the occupiers want to "tear apart" the seized Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions as it was in 2014. Russians are hunting for activists, authorities and intimidating teachers who refuse to adopt Russian education in Ukrainian schools. Stealing money, food and other humanitarian aid, creating artificial famine.

21:01 Defense Express: for the first time US leading socio-political agencies are interested in Ukrainian-made weapons, particularly the "Neptune" missile.

Washington Post authors Adam Taylor and Claire Parker provided information about "Luch" Design Bureau that created the "Neptun" (Neptune) missile that destroyed the Russian flagship "Moskva" the other day. Back in 2015, at the presentation of the newly made missile system, it didn't draw as much attention as it has now. However, Defense Express has been watching over this project for years now, so we have a lot to tell about it, too.

20:36 Ukrainian Land Forces: Russian Ka-52 "Alligator" helicopter was shot with a Soviet-made "Igla" missile

"A 15 million USD-worth helicopter was hit with a 100-bucks thing," the Ukrainian soldiers joke about the recently downed helicopter, according to Yaroslav, an officer of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar. He said kidding, they didn't want to waste a worthy Stinger rocket to down the helicopter so they fired a Soviet-made "Igla" anti-aircraft homing missile:

"At night, enemy helicopters were approaching at a very low altitude. They were circling around over our positions, we couldn't even lift our heads. And then a guy, an anti-aircraft gunner attached to my unit, has launched two missiles at them. One of [the missiles], to be honest, hit a heat trap, but the other took down the Ka-53. It fell. There were enemy attempts to approach our positions with aircraft and fire with rockets, but those had no success."

Yaroslav said, later afternoon his unit sent a drone to observe the burnt remnants closer. You can even see the profile of the destroyed helicopter / Photo credit: 93rd Independent Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar"

20:07 European Pravda media: Moldova has refused to hand MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine since the start of the invasion

According to an article by Serhiy Sydorenko on European Pravda, Ukraine turned to its western neighbor for the jets on the very first day of Russia's full-scale invasion. But received a categorical refusal from the Moldovan parliament. The reason for such an answer was that they "don't want to irritate Russia", said the sources of the media. Moldova was afraid this would be a violation of the neutrality principle.

There are six MiG-29 fighter aircraft at the Moldovan armed forces' disposal, states the author. These jets are stationed at the Marculesti air base. The official data indicates they all are functional but hadn't been used for a while. Chisinau even tried to sell them at an auction.

Despite Russia's threats and Moldova's reluctance to provide combat aircraft, some experts say Ukraine might receive MiG-29 fighter jets soon, because the question was "back on the table", at least in Slovakia.

19:38 Odesa region administration: neighboring Mykolaiv region suffers from water supply issues

The problems appeared because of intense hostilities, said Maksym Marchenko, Head of the Odesa region military administration:

18:45 The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has urged the US president, Joe Biden, to visit Ukraine and reiterated that he is not willing to cede territory in the country’s east to end war with Russia.

“I think he will,” Zelenskiy said in an extended interview with CNN when asked if he was aware of any plans for a US presidential visit. “But it’s his decision, of course, and [it] depends on the safety situation, of course. But I think he’s the leader of the United States and that’s why he should come here to see.”

Biden told reporters on Thursday that the US would decide soon whether to send a senior official to Ukraine as a show of support, but sources suggested to Reuters the administration was considering defense secretary Lloyd Austin or secretary of state Antony Blinken. The Zelenskiy comments came after UK prime minister Boris Johnson made .
