Ukraine Will Receive $800M Assistance in Weapons from the US

The United States is moving to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine to counter Russian occupation forces. Some of the samples will be transferred for the first time

The United States is expanding the range of weapons that the country is ready to hand over to Ukraine as part of military assistance. Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone for roughly an hour before the US president issued a statement formally announcing the new aid package, which includes weapons, ammunition and other military aid.

Thus, on April 13, US President announced another $ 800 million military aid package for Ukraine. Later, a slide from a presentation by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby was circulated online, detailing which weapons the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive.

The new aid package includes 18 155 mm Howitzers and 40,000 rounds, 10 counter-artillery radars, 300 Switchblade drones, 500 Javelin and "thousands" of other anti-armor weapons, 200 armored personnel carriers, 11 Mi-17 helicopters, claymore mines,unmanned coastal defense vehicles and other equipment, the White House said.
"The Ukrainian military has used the weapons we are providing to devastating effect," Biden said. "As Russia prepares to intensify its attack in the Donbas region, the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with the capabilities to defend itself."

It is worth noting that the United States finally decided the fate of the Mi-17 helicopters, which were discussed to be hand over to Ukraine before the war.

An interesting item on the list is "Unnamed Coastal Defense Vesseles". Kirby mentioned that "it will be the unmanned surface vessels we're providing to help them with some coastal defense down in the Sea of Azov ". Pentagon spokesman also added "there are Javelin missiles as part of this package, which we know are very effective against Russian tanks."
Also against the background of threats from russia's use of chemical weapons, the United States will provide Ukraine with protective equipment against chemical, radiological and nuclear contamination.
