The Kilo-class (Project 636.3) Rostov-na-Donu (B-237) diesel-electric submarine received so much damage that they do not allow the russians to hope for the possibility of restoring the underwater craft

Photos have become publicly available that clearly demonstrate the damage to the russian Rostov-Na-Donu diesel-electric submarine, which was hit by cruise missiles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 13, 2023 at the main base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

As it turned out, the real extent of the damage to the Rostov-na-Donu submarine exceeded all the wildest assumptions. There are large holes in the bow and in the center of the submarine's hull.

Until now, only satellite images of the water area of temporarily occupied Sevastopol, taken after the effective attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 13, 2023, were publicly available. Based on those images, one could only speculate that the Rostov-on-Don submarine had suffered damage in the bow, and that the nature of the damage would mean a multi-year repair at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now, in the new photos, you can see that the real scale of damage to this submarine turned out to be orders of magnitude greater than it was possible to imagine before.

In particular, large-scale damage in the bow means that in fact all the weapons of this U-boat can be destroyed on the Rostov-on-Don submarine, in particular the torpedo tubes, from which the Kalibr cruise missiles can be launched, as well as the fire control systems.

Damage in the central part of the hull can mean that all the underwater craft's controls and even the battery compartment can be destroyed.

The nature of the damage to the russian submarine may indicate the futility of its restoration.
