UK military wants to give a dramatic signal of defiance towards Russian aggression in Eastern Europe. The US and UK joint air assault exercise may be the biggest of its kind in a decade

The UK military chiefs at Permanent Joint HQ in Middlesex discuss their plans for a dramatic UK-US parachute jump into Poland as a massive show of force against Moscow, according to the Mirror's sources.

Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced on February 7 that another 350 soldiers will be sent to Poland amid the tensions of possible Russia's invasion of Ukraine. As the Mirror reports, UK military chiefs at Permanent Joint HQ in Middlesex have been going over plans to project British military strength as a gesture of solidarity with Ukrainian forces. One plan under discussion is to parachute members of 2 Para and 82nd Airborne into Poland as a dramatic signal of defiance towards Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the sources, the UK troops are “highly likely” to be paratroopers, and many of them will jump into Poland from C-130 troops carrier warplanes. It is believed members of 2 Para will be asked to join US airborne troops in demonstrating what the Army calls a Joint Forcible Entry, dramatically dropping into Poland. They are part of 16 Air Assault Brigade – the UK’s high readiness troops mostly made up of Paratroopers, with signallers, medics, and engineers attached. After jointly parachuting into Poland they would then launch a 14-day wargaming exercise.

Defense Express memo: the tensions in Eastern Europe arise as Russia is concentrating its military forces around the border of Ukraine. The United States warned about the possibility of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia denies any accusations and explains its estimated 140,000 troops and equipment at the border of Ukraine with planned military drills.

As Defense Express reported earlier, US and UK will send reinforcements to Poland to bolster NATO’s eastern flank. Other countries also started to expand their military presence in the region and express their support for Ukraine by sending troops, lethal and non-lethal military aid.

The recent batch of US military aid carried 86 tons of ammunition with the total amount of support received by Ukraine from the USA reaching $1.5B, and over 1000 tons of weapons. International support also includes political pressure and information, provided by allied reconnaissance.
