The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, has ordered Trackfire RWS for 1.5 billion kronor (almost 140 million euros). This will strengthen the capabilities of amphibious units, including in countering drones – for this purpose, the appropriate modifications of remote weapon stations have been purchased.
This purchase is taking place within the framework of the Amphibious Battalion 2030 project, which is aimed at developing future amphibious forces within the Swedish Armed Forces. Deliveries are expected to take place in 2026-2028.

Recall that Trackfire RWS is a fully stabilized, remotely operated dual-weapon station that offers pinpoint accuracy while on the move, whether mounted on naval vessels, land vehicles, or stationary defence positions. The FMV order includes the new Trackfire ARES (Aerial Response) RWS, equipped with a 30x113 mm M230LF Bushmaster chain gun as its primary weapon, which provides effective anti-drone (C-UAS) capability.
This family of remote weapon stations is usually installed on Swedish CB90 boats, but can also be installed on other naval and ground based platforms. According to the manufacturer, Saab, high accuracy is ensured everywhere.
As for the interception of drones, Trackfire RWS can be included in the special Loke C-UAV system, which was developed in just 84 days. In total, the time from the start of the project to deployment was just four months.

Loke was first presented in February 2025 and is built by combining existing technologies into a modular system. It integrates a mobile radar, Saab’s Giraffe 1X, with a Trackfire Remote Weapon Station armed with heavy and medium machine guns, as well as electronic-warfare components. The system can track both physical targets and signals in the electromagnetic spectrum, providing early detection and multiple options for neutralization.
Recall that Sweden has recently begun large-scale purchases of short-range air defense systems, in particular, both the Iris-T SLS air defense system and command posts with Giraffe 1X radars. The Swedes also do not forget about the acquisition of means to integrate all this into a single system.
In general, interest in various C-UAV systems has seriously increased in the world against the background of their increased use, which is especially noticeable during the russia-Ukraine war. As a result, Saab has received more orders for the supply of such means – including even from the USA.
