Saab has received another contract from Lithuania for delivery of their Mobile Short-Range Air Defense (MSHORAD) systems, as announced on the Swedish company's official resources the deal amount may reach up to $150 million, with the announced delivery period quite extended over time, covering 2026-2030.
For this money, Lithuania will receive a battery of MSHORAD air defense systems, though the exact number of complexes included in it is not disclosed. One system consists of an RBS 70 NG type combat module, Giraffe 1X radar station, and GBAD C2 command and control system.

The deal amount also includes services for integrating combat modules onto JLTV armored vehicles, as these will be the main ones in the Lithuanian military given Lithuania's active procurement of these vehicles.
Regarding the MSHORAD complex, Lithuania is ordering its third battery of this air defense system; moreover, this country was Saab's first customer for the mobile RBS 70 NG system based on JLTV the first battery was ordered in July 2024, costing the Lithuanians about $123 million with delivery terms in 2025-2027.
A few months later, in October, Lithuania immediately ordered a second battery of MSHORAD complexes for about $128 million with delivery in 2026-2029. But again without specifying the number of systems in the battery.
It's possible that Lithuania made its choice in favor of MSHORAD not least because of Ukraines experience, as RBS-70 MANPADS have proven themselves positively in Ukraine, shooting down among other things enemy Ka-52 helicopters.
By the way, Swedish Saab presented the mobile variant of RBS 70 NG designated MSHORAD relatively recently, a few years ago. This is indeed an interesting air defense system that, among other things, is effective as a drone killer not least thanks to its radar. The target engagement range is up to 9 km.
