Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces conducted a series of coordinated nighttime strikes against russian military targets in temporarily occupied territories, hitting personnel concentrations, air defense assets, and drone-related infrastructure. The operation took place on the night of June 12 and targeted several locations across Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.
According to Major Robert Madyar Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, one of the primary targets was the Vostochny training ground near Novopetrivka in Zaporizhzhia region. Multiple strikes reportedly hit temporary deployment areas used by russian troops undergoing training before deployment to the front line.

Robert Brovdi stated that three russian formations were present at the training ground at the time of the attack. These included the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade from Kamchatka, the 1461st Regiment of the 36th Army, and the 1466th Regiment of the 5th Army. All three units are currently involved in combat operations on the Huliaipole axis, one of the active sectors of the front in the south of Ukraine.
The strike highlights a growing Ukrainian effort to target russian rear-area facilities rather than focusing exclusively on frontline positions. Training grounds and temporary troop concentrations have become increasingly vulnerable to long-range reconnaissance and precision drone attacks, reducing the ability of russian forces to safely prepare personnel for combat.
In addition to the training ground attack, Ukrainian operators reportedly struck the Tor-M2 short-range air defense system near Vershyna Druha in Zaporizhzhia region. The destruction or suppression of such systems can create temporary gaps in russian air defenses, improving conditions for further drone operations in the area.
Other reported targets included the ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun and a MANPADS team near Novopetrivka. Ukrainian forces also targeted a russian drone command post near Novoandriivka in Donetsk region and a temporary deployment site used by a drone unit in Dovzhansk, Luhansk region.
