The attack focused on vital components of the refinery and reportedly caused substantial damage to the ELOU AVT-7 unit, a major installation used for the primary processing of crude oil. The facility plays a central role in preparing crude oil and separating it into various fractions through a heating and distillation process.
The Nizhnekamsk refinery is one of russia's significant oil-processing facilities, with an annual production capacity of nearly 16 million tons. The plant is designed to achieve a refining depth of approximately 99%, making it one of the country's more technologically advanced refining complexes.
The refinery generated approximately 140 billion rubles in revenue during 2025, while net profit was estimated at 38.4 billion rubles. These figures underscore both the economic importance of the facility and its role in supporting russia's broader industrial and energy sectors.
