While the price of military equipment usually depends on the specific terms of a contract, the recent donation of two Inguar-3 armored vehicles to the Azov Brigade provides a rare opportunity to estimate the cost of a single vehicle

Ukrainian job platform Work.ua has donated two domestically produced Inguar-3 armored vehicles, manufactured by Inguar Defence, to the 12th Special Purpose Brigade Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine. The case is particularly noteworthy because the total value of the donation was publicly disclosed.

According to the announcement, the two vehicles cost a combined UAH 36 million, or approximately $800,000. This suggests a unit price of around UAH 18 million, equivalent to roughly $400,000 per vehicle.

It should be noted that the cost of armored vehicles and weapon systems depends heavily on configuration, support packages, training, spare parts, and other contractual conditions. Since Work.ua did not disclose such details, the price for government procurement or export contracts could differ somewhat.

Even so, the donation provides a useful benchmark for estimating the approximate cost of the Ukrainian-made Inguar-3. Interestingly, its price is roughly comparable to that of the American JLTV. The U.S. Army has previously cited a unit cost of about $400,000 for the JLTV, although export versions can be significantly more expensive. For example, a specialized doorless variant purchased by the Netherlands reportedly cost around $1 million per vehicle.

This places the Ukrainian design in a competitive position, particularly considering its protection level. The Inguar-3 is rated at STANAG 4569 Level 3 protection, meaning it can withstand 7.62×51 mm ammunition fired from 30 meters, as well as armor-piercing incendiary B-32 rounds typically associated with SVD sniper rifles. The vehicle is also designed to survive the detonation of an explosive charge equivalent to 8 kg of TNT under either a wheel or the hull.

Another important factor is that the Inguar-3 uses a purpose-built chassis rather than an adapted foreign commercial platform. In addition, the manufacturer has been steadily increasing the level of local production. If export opportunities eventually expand, the vehicle could become highly competitive on the international market.

It is also worth noting that the Inguar-3 platform continues to evolve. New variants have already been introduced, including a pickup version intended for unmanned systems units and a dedicated casualty evacuation vehicle. These developments allow operators to expand their fleet around a combat-proven platform.

The company has also unveiled the 6×6 Inguar-4 variant in the form of an armored recovery vehicle. Additional configurations are expected to follow in the future.
