Germany Expands Falke Drones From Special Forces to Entire Army 500+ Units of Ukraine-Proven Vector

Germany previously bought Falke reconnaissance drones only for special operations, but now will expand use across entire Bundeswehr

Germany is going to expand the use of Falke reconnaissance UAVs from just SOF to all Bundeswehr forces. And their manufacturer is the well-known company Quantum Systems, which supplies drones to Ukraine.

As Hartpunkt writes, for this the Bundestag budget committee will consider allocating slightly more than €200 million for the purchase of over 500 Falke drones. They are based on the Vector, which is actively used by Ukrainian military.

The new UAVs will go to combat units to provide reconnaissance-combat component. They will also equip the military police, which will thus be able to monitor routes for marches or logistics.

It's expected that funding for procurement will be fully allocated in 2026, and delivery will occur as quickly as possible. It's even assumed that most, if not all ordered systems will be delivered next year.

Defense Express notes that this signals deeper adaptation of unmanned technologies in the German military. What was previously intended only for special units should today become the norm for everyone.

Ukraine's Defense Forces actively use UAVs of various levels to conduct reconnaissance, monitor ussian forces, as well as correct artillery. That is, this is an indispensable component in modern warfare.

Actually, the Falke drone itself is essentially a Vector drone adapted to German needs, which is actively used by Ukrainian military. It was even noted as one of the best foreign platforms in its class, and was even localized in Ukraine.

The manufacturer company from Germany, Quantum Systems, is actively working on improving its own developments. Also, to ensure greater demand, its expanding its own capacityand marks this as one of its development priorities.
