The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura" is armed with a German Vector reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle, which already has an impressive track record of combat use by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The production of this UAV has even been localized in Ukraine.
Ukrainian military channel the Army TV spoke with two Vector UAV operators with the call signs "Zeleny" and "Munin", who serve in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura". They talked about the advantages of this reconnaissance drone.

According to them, the biggest advantage of the Vector UAV is its cameras, "Three day cameras with different optical zooms. That is, it has a 44x optical zoom and for every 10-15 "zooms" a separate daytime camera is used. During the day, when we fly, we can simultaneously turn on the thermal imager and see, for example, during landing, whether something is working (meaning equipment whose engines emit heat - ed.)", says the Vector UAV operator with the call sign "Green".
His colleague, the drone operator with the call sign "Munin" also emphasizes the advantages of this drone's surveillance cameras.
"We switch to thermal mode and if the sun has heated the ground, that is, it is already high enough above the horizon, the gun barrel heats up and you can distinguish [the target against the background of the ground]. This is a very, very big plus that you can combine surveillance modes. If necessary - switch, if not necessary - go back. In the daytime, we switch to the camera, we see that that warm spot is a cat. That is, you can distinguish a cat, as well to see it at adistance of 800 meters."
The greatest distance that this crew has covered on the Vector drone is more than 40 km. The military, speaking about the range of the drone, note that the range depends on the conditions and that in general this drone can "fly in" up to 45-47 km into the enemy's rear. "But it will be like this - it flew in and immediately returned," - specifies "Munin". While "Zeleny" notes that on normal batteries the drone can spend from 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes in the air.
One of the tasks performed by the Vector UAV crew is the search for enemy drone operators. "Flying, we can consider the probable locations of something interesting. The same operators of drones such as Mavic, or FPV drones, need (for the high-quality use of drones - ed.) shelter, height for observation as well as to find a good radio horizon. And, accordingly, we thus roughly understand where they might be, having analyzed the terrain," says "Green".
