Ukrainian company Ratel Robotics, which develops and manufactures unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), has unveiled a new add-on module for its Ratel H platform

Ratel Robotics recently demonstrated its latest development — a launcher module for FPV drones designed for installation on the Ratel H unmanned ground vehicle. A video showcasing the system was published on the company's official pages, as well as on the page of company director Taras Ostapchuk.

The module features four cells for transporting and launching various types of FPV drones. The video shows the automatic opening of a cell and the launch of a drone directly from it, including one equipped with a fiber-optic spool.

Each cell also appears to have side access panels to facilitate maintenance and drone loading. While the concept of launching drones from mobile platforms is not new, this appears to be a factory-produced solution — likely one of the first of its kind presented in Ukraine in this configuration.

The launcher itself appears relatively easy to install on the UGV, allowing both newly produced and already fielded Ratel H systems to be equipped with it.

In terms of operational effectiveness, such a solution could provide UGV operators with enhanced survivability during combat missions. For example, a Ratel H equipped with FPV drones could move to the launch area from one position while operators remain located at a separate, safer site.

At the same time, the issue of protecting such a UGV from enemy drone attacks remains relevant. Potential solutions could include specially designed protective cage structures with camouflage netting adapted to the launcher configuration, as well as electronic warfare systems. Previously, Defense Express reported on how the enemy protects its UGVs — approaches that may be of interest, although they also have limitations.

It is worth recalling that the Ratel H is a multi-purpose logistics drone designed for cargo transport and casualty evacuation. It has an operational radius of over 50 km, a range of up to 60 km, and can carry payloads of up to 400 kg.

Earlier, Defense Express reported that Ukraine's largest domestically developed PROTECTOR UGV, may receive laser weaponry.
