The main task of the Protector unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is called the preservation of the lives of Ukrainian warriorrs, so while at first it was presented as a logistical vehicle, now this vehicle has been armed with a machine gun for firing at the enemy

The Ukrainian Armor Design and Manufacturing Company, a member of the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries (NAUDI), conducted tests of its Protector UGV that was equipped with the Tavria-12.7 remote controlled weapon station. In this way, the designers of the company turned their logistic unmanned ground vehicle into a full-fledged combat vehicle.

During the tests, shooting was conducted in different modes, at different distances both in a static position and while moving. According to the general director of the Ukrainian Armor company Vladyslav Belbas, good results were obtained.

The Protector UGV is promoted by the Ukrainian Armor company as a means of saving the lives of personnel. If earlier when presenting the vehicle, emphasis was placed on its ability to provide logistics, now it is about the ability to perform combat missions with no danger to personnel.

The Tavria-12.7 RCWS is a remote-controlled turret armed with the legendary "Ma Deuce" – American M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun. Versions of the RCWS which were equipped with 14.5-mm and 7.62-mm machine guns being installed on M113 tracked armored personnel carrier and Novator armored vehicle were presented earlier.

Such weapons are usually installed on armored vehicles for carrying of personnel to fire support of infantry on the battlefield. Due to the appearance on the battlefield of a large number of FPV drones, the use of vehicles is currently limited due to the increased risks for both the vehicles and their crews.

So now the Protector UGV is more adapted to modern conditions. The UGV can now be used to perform a wide range of tasks without risk to people: fire damage to the enemy, fire support for infantry, medical evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield, logistical support of advanced units etc.

We remind you that the Protector UGV has a load capacity of up to 700 kg, so heavier weapons can be installed on this vehicle, such as, for example, a turret equipped with anti-tank guided missiles, which was previously presented in renders. It may also be appropriate to install an RCWS with an automatic grenade launcher
