What specific features of this weapon's use can we learn from the video footage?

A video of the UA Reg Team unit appeared on social media, showing the process of striking russian occupier positions using British-made Brimstone missiles.

Although the time and location of the action are not disclosed, these images are valuable for their rare mention of Brimstone in the possession of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. For example, rare footage showing the Ukrainian Armed Forces launching Brimstone missiles from improvised setups on regular trucks, despite having Wolfram vehicles for them, was published as recently as August 2023, which is about a year ago.

From the footage provided above, we cannot see which type of launcher is being used to fire the Brimstone missiles at the russian occupiers. However, we can observe other details about the use of these British guided missiles for targeting.

First, we see that the target reconnaissance, which will later be followed by the missile launch, takes place during the day, while the actual firing of the Brimstone missiles occurs at night.

This raises the question of how the missiles are guided to the target, as it is known that the UK supplied Ukraine with the Brimstone 2 Dual Mode variant. This variant offers two targeting modes: either firing in "fire-and-forget" mode using radar-guided homing, or using a semi-active laser guidance system, which requires target illumination by a UAV or other means.

Analysts from CSIS report that the Brimstone 2 Dual Mode missiles provided to Ukraine by the UK can be fired up to 20 kilometers from a ground launcher. However, the exact range at which these missiles were used by our troops in the footage shown above remains an open question. Additionally, it is worth noting that public information about the delivery of Brimstone 2 Dual Mode missiles to our military first appeared in November 2022.

Typically, Brimstone launchers appear in the possession of Special Operations Forces, where they are used with improvised launchers based on Gazelle trucks.

There were also reports that a Wolfram vehicle for Brimstone was made for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer of 2022, but this information only became known in July 2023.
