Brimstone missile arsenal combines innovation through improvised setups and the specialized Wolfram vehicle, as the military adapts to limited launchers

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively using Brimstone missiles against russian forces. Recently, it was disclosed that almost a year ago, the British provided a Wolfram vehicle based on Supacat vehicle, specifically designed for the Ukrainian military. This specialized vehicle enables the Ukrainians to deploy the Brimstone missiles effectively, ensuring better precision and performance compared to improvised alternatives.

Currently, the Ukrainian military has only a limited number of mobile launchers for Brimstone missiles, totaling just a few dozen. It is evident that this quantity falls significantly short of meeting the requirements of the Armed Forces for such systems.

In the recently released videos from the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, it is evident that Brimstone missiles are being launched not only from dedicated Brimstone launcher vehicles but also from improvised setups on regular trucks. Ukrainian military is utilizing both types of platforms in parallel to deploy Brimstone missiles effectively.

These improvised vehicles employed by the Armed Forces for launching Brimstone missiles were initially spotted in May 2022. Remarkably, this discovery occurred merely a week before the revelation that British high-precision Brimstone missiles were already being used to target russian forces in Ukraine.

However, in November 2022, the specific version of the Brimstone missiles being supplied to Ukraine was revealed. It turned out to be the Brimstone 2 Dual Mode missile with a combined guidance system.
