Ukraine tested two Gravehawk air defense system prototypes in September 2024 and is to receive 15 more such air defense systems

Defense Forces of Ukraine should soon receive the first batch of additional Gravehawk air defense systems, after two prototypes of these air defense systems were previously delivered to our military. This information was officially reported by the UK Ministry of Defence.

So, in total Ukraine, besides two prototypes, is to receive 15 more Gravehawk air defense systems. As UK Defence Journal quotes Veterans Affairs Minister Al Carns, as of today, the UK is preparing to deliver the first batch of these air defense systems in the near future (of course, without counting the two delivered prototypes).

Details on how many Gravehawk air defense systems will be delivered to Ukraine within the first batch, as well as how long delivery of these systems may stretch overall, are not reported.

It is worth noting that the Gravehawk air defense system contract is apparently being executed with delay. Recall that the first two prototypes of this air defense system, according to official information from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, underwent testing in Ukraine in September 2024.

Two prototypes of this system underwent testing in Ukraine in September, and there will be 15 of them during the year, the statement published on January 16 last year states. What exactly the delay may be connected with is unknown.

In February 2025, it first became known that Gravehawk represents a launcher in the form factor of a shipping container, and uses Ukrainian-made R-73 missiles to hit targets.
