On September 10, 2024, a joint operation conducted by the Defense Intelligence and the Special Operations Forces targeted a crucial railway line in Belgorod region of russia. The Stary Oskol – Valuyki railway section was mined and subsequently blown up, disrupting the supply routes for russian forces.
According to Suspilne, a freight train transporting logistical supplies for the russian military was derailed as a result of the explosion. Eleven wagons, along with the locomotive, went off the tracks and overturned. This sabotage effectively paralyzed the railway, forcing the cancellation of several train services.

Russian authorities, including Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed the derailment, while local reports from Telegram channel Baza suggested that the train, en route from Bataysk to Stary Oskol, struck an explosive device. The damage affected 10 empty wagons out of 58, leading to significant disruptions.
