The Americans have found a simple and at the same time effective solution to prevent Iranian ballistic missile launchers from leaving their "missile cities" and tunnels. Defense Express tells how it was done

The Iranians have built a very developed underground infrastructure, with entire underground missile cities where they can manufacture and store missiles of various types, and also reload the launchers before using them. Destroying such facilities is extremely difficult - it requires heavy strikes using anti-bunker bombs, and this does not guarantee a successful result.

However, the Americans seem to have found a way out. In particular, local residents on the outskirts of the city of Shiraz in the town of Kifri, located approximately 2 kilometers from one such "missile city", publish photos of mines that were found around.

These mines turned out to be anti-tank BLU-91/B designed for remote mining from the air. This is indicated by the presence of special rectangular stabilizers. These BLU-91/B mines are used in CBU-89/B and CBU-78/B aerial bombs. This is reported by Bellingcat.

It seems that the Americans, in order to stop any activity of this "missile city", simply dropped several such aerial bombs filled with mines on the roads leading to it. In this way, it is possible to paralyze the activities of such a "missile city" until all the mines are discovered and neutralized, or their validity period expires.

It should be noted that in the CBU-89/B and CBU-78/B air bombs, along with the anti-tank BLU-91/B, anti-personnel mines BLU-92/B are also used, in different quantities and ratios (72 BLU-91/B and 22 BLU-92/B in the CBU-89/B; 45 BLU-91/B and 15 BLU-92/B in the CBU-78/B).

Externally, these mines are similar, but the BLU-92/B anti-personnel mines have four holes in the upper part, from which, when the mine is deployed, the streamers are thrown out in different directions. However, no mines with such features have been observed in any published photographs.

This suggests that the Americans could have specifically replaced the BLU-92/B anti-personnel mines in aerial bombs with an additional number of BLU-91/B anti-tank mines in order to avoid unnecessary casualties among the civilian population. However, Iran has already announced civilian casualties, which may be a consequence of an attempt to move the BLU-91/B anti-tank mines, since such an attempt should cause them to explode.

The anti-tank mine is equipped with a magnetic field sensor that initializes the mine when a metal object approaches it - this makes clearing the BLU-91/B anti-tank mines extremely difficult and dangerous. Both of the aforementioned mines have a self-destruct mechanism. Before using these mines, you can set their self-destruct time in 4 hours, 48 hours, or 15 days.

Thus, after the use of several such aerial bombs with BLU-91/B anti-tank mines in the territory of the "missile city", as well as its surroundings, the movement of equipment and people becomes almost impossible and very dangerous. As a result, ballistic missile launchers simply cannot leave the tunnels.
