Ukrainian forces carried out a series of coordinated strikes against russian military infrastructure between May 17 and 18, targeting naval assets, air defense systems, drone control centers, and logistics hubs across temporarily occupied territories and inside russia, according to the General Staff.
One of the most notable confirmed hits was the strike on the Project 21980 Grachonok anti-sabotage boat near Kaspiysk in russia's Dagestan. Vessels of this class are used by the russian Navy to protect naval bases and counter underwater sabotage threats, making them an important component of rear-area security.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces targeted several russian UAV command posts operating near Rozdolne and Shevchenko in Donetsk region, Dvorichne in Kharkiv region, Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region, and Karnatne in russia's Bryansk region. These strikes appear aimed at disrupting russia's growing reliance on drones for reconnaissance and strike coordination along the front line.
The General Staff also reported attacks on concentrations of russian personnel in Piddubne in Donetsk region and Olhyne in Kherson region. Such strikes are part of Ukraine's continuing effort to degrade troop deployments and complicate russian force rotations near active combat zones.
In addition to the latest operations, Ukraine confirmed the results of several earlier strikes carried out on May 17. Among the successfully hit targets was a communications hub in Myrne in Crimea, which likely played a role in coordinating russian military operations on the peninsula and southern front.
Ukrainian forces also confirmed the destruction of russian Tor-M2 air defense system near Zakhidne in Luhansk region, as well as a train carrying fuel in Fedorivka in Donetsk region. Attacks on fuel logistics remain particularly significant, as russian forces continue to depend heavily on rail transport for sustaining operations.
The General Staff further confirmed the results of a May 16 strike on the Yeysk airfield in russia's Krasnodar region. According to the report, the attack destroyed the Ka-27 helicopter and the Be-200 maritime patrol aircraft. Ukraine also reported damage to an airspace surveillance and control station in Lesnoye, Bryansk region.
