The possibility of launching Kalibr-type missiles from a positional area near Novorossiysk will have to be taken into account when clearing Crimea and the Black Sea from russian occupiers

When there was another massive missile attack on Kyiv on June 16, 2023, during which the aggressor launched six the Kinzhal missiles as well as six the Kalibr missiles, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also warned about another launch of the Kalibr missiles from the direction of Novorossiysk, which was not confirmed later.

However, the threat that the russians may choose Novorossiysk as a new launch area for missile attacks on Ukraine to secure their missile ships actually exists. This is evidenced by some satellite images that have become publicly available.

For example, OSINT analyst MT_Anderson posted on his Twitter a satellite photo of the russian navy base in Novorossiysk on June 9, 2023, from which it follows that at that point two project 11356 frigates and three project 21631 Buyan-M missile corvettes were simultaneously stationed at that point as well as three submarines of project 636.6.

Thus, all the surface and most of the underwater carriers of the Kalibr cruise missiles, which the russian federation has in the Black Sea, were concentrated here.

To confirm the fact that the Russians began to pull their missile ships more often to Novorossiysk, we can also take satellite images of the water area of temporarily occupied Sevastopol for June 15, 2023, published by the same MT_Anderson.

Paradoxically, all two project 11356 frigates, as well as all three project 21631 Buyan-M missile corvettes are missing from these pictures, and only two submarines of the Varshavyanka type are visible. And this despite the fact that on the same June 15, 2023, the Navy of Ukraine reported that only two russian the Kalibr missile carrier ships had gone to sea.

In view of the above, it can be concluded that on this day the russians withdrew most of their missile-carrying ships to Novorossiysk, and that the practice of placing the most valuable ships, which are also carriers of Kalibr-type cruise missiles, in this base has become regular. Therefore, this factor will have to be taken into account when the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberating the Crimea and the Black Sea from the russian invaders.
