The Breeze TV and radio station has released a report dedicated to certain episodes of the combat operations of the Gyurza project armored boats in a service with the Ukrainian Navy. According to the report, russian Mohajer-6 reconnaissance-strike drone of Iranian production, which is a “copy of Bayraktar TB2”, was shot down by one of the armored boats involved in carrying out air defense tasks at the end of September 2022.
The specific weaponry used to hit the UAV is not disclosed. However, it is mentioned that the downed Mohajer-6 drone fell into the water almost intact, and its parachute deployed upon impact. This allowed for the extraction of necessary data from the drone’s onboard equipment. Interestingly, it is also noted that this UAV was equipped with an attached guided aerial bomb, which was also successfully studied.

This episode is noteworthy because during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the russians rarely used Iranian Mohajer-6 drones. The incident mentioned above was the only known case of shooting down an UAV of this type by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It is significant that the Ukrainian Navy was involved in this story because the role of the naval forces in Ukraine’s air defense remains relatively unknown due to various reasons.
Furthermore, the Gyurza project armored boats participated in the defense of Ochakiv. They provided fire support to Ukrainian soldiers and conducted evacuation operations for raiding groups.
It is indeed evident that the occupiers even used Grad systems to counter armored boats. However, based on officially stated information, the enemy only achieved a singular direct hit on one of boats, which was subsequently repaired and restored to service.
