The Armed Forces of Ukraine are deploying new combat robot that merges heavy weaponry, smart targeting, and remote control to boost operational effectiveness on the frontlines

Ukraine has officially integrated the Droid TW 12.7 robotic combat system into its Armed Forces. This domestically developed unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is designed to enhance battlefield capabilities while minimizing risks to personnel.

The Droid TW 12.7 UGV is equipped with the Browning 12.7 mm machine gun and operates on a tracked platform, allowing it to navigate challenging terrains. It can be remotely controlled via a tablet or gamepad, utilizing digital communication systems, including Starlink and LTE, to ensure reliable connectivity in various operational environments.

  • Weaponry: the Browning 12.7 mm machine gun with options for 7.62 mm variants;
  • Mobility: Tracked platform designed for difficult conditions;
  • Control: Remote operation via tablet or gamepad;
  • Communication: Digital systems compatible with military networks, Starlink, and LTE;
  • Targeting: Integrated AI for target recognition and ballistic calculations;
  • Surveillance: Thermal imaging systems for day and night operations;
  • Deployment: Compact design allows transport in pickup trucks; ready for operation within five minutes.

This ground drone is not limited to daylight operations. It features an advanced thermal imaging system with several display modes, allowing it to function efficiently day and night. It can detect targets up to 1.5 km during the day and up to 1 km at night.

The successful integration of the Droid TW 12.7 system into Ukraine's military operations sets a precedent for the adoption of similar technologies in the future.
