On April 10, the Unmanned Systems Forces officially presented a next-generation anti-ship drone system known as the Alligator-9. The unveiling took place during the European Defense Industry conference, and marks a significant step forward in Ukraine’s naval and drone warfare capabilities.
The Alligator-9 system integrates multiple classes of unmanned surface vehicles, each designed for specialized operational roles:

- The Alligator-5 ToD (torpedo drone) – A strike component consisting of 6–10 drones equipped with torpedoes, optimized for direct engagement of enemy vessels;
- The Alligator-5 EW (electronic warfare) – A supporting element comprising 3–5 drones outfitted with electronic warfare, reconnaissance, navigation, and mine countermeasure systems to ensure mission success and target access.
One of the system’s most notable features is the integration of the Tryzub directed energy weapon, a laser platform designed to counter a wide range of aerial threats. According to the Unmanned Systems Forces, the laser is capable of:
- Neutralizing strike drones, guided bombs, and both cruise and ballistic missiles at distances up to 3 kilometers;
- Engaging helicopters, aircraft, and UAVs up to 5 kilometers;
- Disrupting or disabling optical and guidance systems on airborne threats at ranges up to 10 kilometers.
The Alligator-9 system represents a significant technological advancement in Ukraine’s indigenous defense development, combining autonomous naval platforms with laser capabilities for enhanced maritime security and force projection.
