A video appeared on the Internet, from which it can be concluded that the Ukrainian military has already mastered the M-55S tanks supplied to Ukraine and will probably soon throw them into battle against the Russian occupation forces

The published video with Slovenian tanks is actually not very informative, but with its appearance, we can calculate how long it took to put these tanks into service.

Thus, it became known in September that Ukraine would receive an "improved" T-55 as part of a "circular exchange" between Germany and Slovenia, and the official notification from the Slovenian government was published on September 19 - we take this date as the "point countdown".

Subsequently, on October 29, it became known that Slovenia had already sent its modernized Soviet tanks to Ukraine - they were spotted at the Celje railway station in Slovenia.

It can be estimated that from the moment of the "announcement of deliveries" to the immediate start of training, more than two months passed. In turn, it took about a month for the Ukrainian military to "put these vehicles into service". For example, it took Ukraine about two months to master a copy of BMP-2 from the same Slovenia.

It should be noted that in Slovenia, the Т-55 tanks have undergone the deepest modernization. This modernization was made jointly by the Slovenian STO RAVNE and the Israeli Elbit companies. During this work, 30 tanks were modernized. The last updated Т-55 was transferred to the Slovenian armed forces in 1999.

During the modernization, a new 105mm L7 gun with a thermal sleeve was installed. The tanks were equipped with reactive armor, the elements of which are clearly visible on the hull and turret. The fire control system was improved by installing a digital ballistic computer. The gun is stabilized in two axes. A new Fotona SGS-55 sight with a laser rangefinder was installed.

The tank also received a new Fotona COMTOS-55 commander’s sight with an independent line of sight stabilization. It allows tracking targets and even carrying out gun guidance regardless of the gunner. The tank was also equipped with new rubber-metal tracks.
