Ukrainian combat aviation has successfully targeted and destroyed russian drone repair facility in the south of Ukraine, dealing another blow to the logistics and operational capabilities of russian unmanned aerial systems on the front. The strike was carried out by the Ukrainian Air Force in cooperation with aerial reconnaissance specialists from the Flying Skull unit of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
On Monday, June 30, the Flying Skull unit published footage of the strike, showcasing the destruction of russian facility used for servicing and maintaining military drones.

According to the unit's report, the Ukrainian Air Force dropped U.S.-supplied GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs on the target. The bombs, known for their high precision and extended range, caused devastating damage to russian-held buildings.
"The orcs set up a drone repair base in the South. The Flying Skull unit tracked it – the MiG-29 aircraft eliminated it. Three GBU-39 bombs sealed the deal. No remnants, no chance," the caption to the video stated.
The successful operation highlights Ukraine's growing ability to detect and strike high-value russian targets behind the front lines. Such russian drone repair bases have become essential infrastructure to maintain the tempo of UAV operations, especially as both reconnaissance and kamikaze drones are used intensively in frontline and deep strike roles.
The use of the GBU-39 bombs demonstrates not only the integration of Western weaponry into Ukraine's existing air platforms, like Soviet-era MiG-29 aircraft, but also how Ukraine is combining precision strikes with real-time intelligence from drone and reconnaissance units. This synergy between strike aircraft and UAV spotters has become a critical element in modern Ukrainian operations.
As Defense Express previously reported, the Ukrainian Air Force pilot, known by the callsign Denfix, has intercepted and destroyed russian Shahed-type drone during a nighttime mission. The drone was neutralized with an air-to-air missile launched from the MiG-29 fighter jet.
The video of the interception was published by the West Air Command of the Ukrainian Air Force. It shows a precise engagement that took place under limited visibility conditions, typical of nighttime drone operations.
