The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially codified and approved the RONNI-13 unmanned aerial vehicle for use within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The announcement was made by the Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment, marking another step forward in Ukraine's rapid domestic drone development program.
The RONNI-13 UAV is Ukrainian-made drone equipped with fiber-optic control systems, a feature that enhances its resistance to electronic warfare and signal jamming, critical factors on the modern battlefield. According to developers, the system was designed and built with direct input from frontline troops, ensuring it meets practical needs in real-world combat conditions.

The drone features a lightweight yet durable airframe, powerful brushless motors, and high-capacity batteries. This configuration enables the RONNI-13 system to carry a combat payload over long distances, effectively targeting enemy personnel and equipment across a wide operational range. Its mobility and survivability make it suitable for a wide range of missions, including direct strike roles.

Adaptability is a central feature of the RONNI-13 system. Depending on the mission profile, the UAV can be fitted with various types of camera systems. These include both daytime and night-vision configurations, allowing for continuous operations regardless of visibility or light conditions.
The approval of the RONNI-13 UAV comes amid Ukraine's broader push to integrate domestic innovations into its Armed Forces. With conventional supplies from foreign partners often delayed or limited, Ukraine's defense sector has turned to rapid prototyping and iterative battlefield testing to deliver solutions faster than traditional procurement cycles allow.
As Defense Express previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially codified and approved the deployment of the PROTECTOR heavy unmanned ground vehicle for operational use within the Armed Forces. This domestically developed platform marks another step in the increasing integration of robotic systems into Ukraine's modern battlefield.
The PROTECTOR UGV was designed based on real combat experience gathered by Ukrainian troops over the course of the war. It is intended to support logistics and combat missions across a wide range of terrains and weather conditions, enhancing both the effectiveness and safety of Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines.
