The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit very important targets – two Tu-142 maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft, as well as the Iskander missile launcher

On the night of May 30, servicemen of the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit a number of interesting targets on territory russian federation.

A video with the results of the work of Ukrainian long-range drone operators was released by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major Robert "Magyar" Brovdi. These were really very interesting targets - the Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile system, as well as two long-range Tu-142 maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft at once.

The targets were hit at a military airfield in the city of Taganrog, in the Rostov region. In the video, you can first see the destruction of the first Tu-142 aircraft by the FP-1 long-range strike UAV – this conclusion can be drawn judging by the interface.

Then you can see footage from the camera of the second drone, which first carries out objective control of the destruction of the first aircraft, which caught fire after being hit, and then hits the second Tu-142 aircraft. The result of hitting the second aircraft is not shown in the video, but the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces claim that both aircraft were destroyed.

The Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile system was destroyed at the launch position in the Taganrog area too. Objective control was also carried out from another FP-1 strike drone, which flew past the burning vehicle.

Recall that the Tu-142 is a Soviet long-range anti-submarine warfare aircraft, which is primarily used as a reconnaissance aircraft in the russian Navy.

Developed in response to the American Polaris programme, the Tu-142 grew out of the need for a viable Soviet ASW platform. It succeeded the failed Tu-95PLO project.

Serial production of the Tu-142 continued until the end of 1992, the last aircraft left the factory airfield in 1994. In total, about 100 of these anti-submarine warfare aircraft were manufactured in various modifications.

Defense Express reported earlier that Ukrainian drones targeted russian Iskander systems hidden at former missile base in Crimea.
