Ukraine's Special Operations Forces carried out a coordinated strike against russian logistical targets in temporarily occupied territories during the night of January 8, continuing a campaign aimed at degrading the enemy's rear infrastructure.
According to official information, SOF units employed FP-2 strike unmanned aerial vehicles to hit multiple targets in the occupied areas of Donetsk region and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The operation focused on facilities directly supporting russian combat operations, particularly fuel and ammunition storage sites.

In temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukrainian strike drones targeted rolling stock carrying fuel and lubricants at a fuel loading rack at an oil depot in the settlement of Hvardiiske. Such facilities are critical nodes in sustaining military mobility, as they support the distribution of fuel to ground forces, aviation, and auxiliary units stationed on the peninsula.
Separately, in Donetsk region, Ukrainian drones struck an ammunition and logistics warehouse belonging to a unit of russia's 51st Combined Arms Army in the settlement of Hirne. The destruction of stored munitions and material supplies is likely to disrupt the unit's ability to conduct sustained offensive or defensive operations in the area.
These strikes underline Ukraine's growing reliance on precision drone warfare to reach deep into temporarily occupied territory, where traditional fire assets may be limited or risk escalation. By using relatively low-cost unmanned systems, Ukrainian forces are able to impose disproportionate losses on high-value logistical targets.
Targeting fuel depots and ammunition warehouses reflects a deliberate strategy to undermine the russian army's operational tempo. Logistics remain one of the most vulnerable aspects of large-scale mechanized forces, and repeated disruptions can significantly slow troop movements, reduce fire intensity, and complicate command planning.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian forces have repelled another russian armored assault on the Kupiansk axis, destroying the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle and a tank during the engagement. The successful defensive action was carried out by crews of the Achilles 429th Regiment, which operates as part of Ukraine's frontline combat units in the area.
