Ukrainian forces have repelled another russian armored assault on the Kupiansk axis, destroying the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle and a tank during the engagement. The successful defensive action was carried out by crews of the Achilles 429th Regiment, which operates as part of Ukraine's frontline combat units in the area.
Footage of the combat operation was published by the unit on January 8, offering visual confirmation of the clash. The video shows Ukrainian crews engaging advancing enemy armor, highlighting the intensity of fighting that continues around Kupiansk, a sector that remains one of russia's key pressure points in the north east of Ukraine.

According to the Regiment's statement, russian forces attempted a mechanized assault aimed at breaking through Ukrainian defensive positions. However, the attack was detected in time, allowing Ukrainian units to prepare and respond with precision fire against the advancing vehicles.
The destruction of the BMP-3 unit is particularly notable, as the vehicle is one of russia's more modern infantry fighting platforms, combining heavy armament with enhanced protection compared to older Soviet-era designs. The loss of a tank alongside it further underscores the scale of the failed assault and the effectiveness of Ukraine's defensive measures.
As Defense Express previously reported, over the past month, operators of the Asgard Battalion within the Nemesis 412th Brigade have carried out a series of successful strikes against russian air defense assets in their area of responsibility.
According to an official statement published by the Unmanned Systems Forces, these actions resulted in the confirmed neutralization of eight enemy air defense systems.
