Ukrainian forces have damaged multiple facilities at the Kapustin Yar range, a key site for russia's ballistic missile preparation and testing

A series of strikes by Ukrainian forces has damaged multiple facilities at the Kapustin Yar military testing range in russia's Astrakhan region, according to updated information released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The site is one of russia's most critical missile testing and launch infrastructure hubs.

Kapustin Yar is used for the pre-launch preparation of medium- and intercontinental-range ballistic missiles. It was previously identified as the launch site for russia's Oreshnik missile, making it a high-value target within Moscow's strategic strike architecture.

The General Staff confirmed damage to several key facilities on the range, including a technical servicing structure for medium-range ballistic missiles, a missile assembly building, and a logistics and material supply warehouse. These installations are essential for missile maintenance, integration, and readiness cycles.

The strikes underscore Ukraine's growing ability to conduct deep precision attacks against strategic military assets located far from the front line. Earlier reports indicated that the attacks were carried out using long-range strike systems of Ukrainian origin, including FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile.

Damage to infrastructure supporting ballistic missile operations could disrupt russia's testing schedules and reduce its capacity to prepare and deploy advanced missile systems. Even limited degradation of such facilities forces the diversion of resources and increases operational friction within russia's strategic forces.

The full extent of russian losses and material damage is still being assessed. The evaluations are ongoing, suggesting that additional impacts may become clear as further intelligence is collected.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine's domestically developed FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile has reportedly seen its first confirmed combat use, with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine acknowledging a successful strike on a designated target.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities amid ongoing efforts to expand indigenous precision weapons.
