Units of Ukraine's 39th Brigade, supported by FPV and Vampire strike drones, eliminated two key russian systems over a three-day operation

Over a three-day period, units of Ukraine's 39th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade, working in coordination with unmanned systems operators, successfully struck two key pieces of russian military equipment. The targets included russian Strela-10 short-range air defense system and 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled artillery system.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with FPV drone crews and strike teams operating Vampire heavy attack drones from the Venom 34th Unmanned Systems Center. The Brigade released video footage documenting the combat work, providing visual confirmation of the strikes.

According to the published details, the engagement followed a systematic, phased approach. Ukrainian operators first detected and identified the targets, then conducted successive strikes to ensure their disablement or destruction. This method reduced the risk of enemy repositioning and increased the overall effectiveness of the operation.

The destruction of the Strela-10 air defense system had immediate tactical implications. By removing this short-range air defense asset, russian forces in the area lost a key layer of protection against aerial reconnaissance and drone strikes, increasing their vulnerability to further unmanned operations.

The successful strike on the 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled artillery system further degraded russian firepower on the axis. The Nona-S system, capable of both indirect and direct fire, is often used to support infantry assaults and suppress defensive positions.

Ukrainian forces emphasized that the operation was not a single isolated strike, but part of a broader tactic aimed at sequentially eliminating critical enemy capabilities. By targeting air defense assets first and artillery systems next, Ukrainian units systematically narrow the adversary's ability to maneuver and apply sustained fire pressure.

As Defense Express previously reported, during the night of December 20-21, 2025, a special operation was carried out against russian military air base located near Lipetsk, resulting in the confirmed damage to two Su-30 multirole fighter jets. The operation targeted aircraft actively used by russia in its air campaign against Ukraine.
