Among its перспективні developments, Ukraine has a project aimed at creating a domestic analog of the U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 radar system. This was disclosed by Andrii Zhuravlov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Missile Forces and Artillery Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
No further details about this project have been made public so far, including its current stage of development or expected timelines and capabilities. At the same time, it is evident that the goal is to develop a domestic radar system with characteristics comparable to the American AN/TPQ-36, which is widely used by Ukrainian forces, while incorporating operational feedback and requirements from combat use.

Zhuravlov spoke about the project to create a Ukrainian version of the AN/TPQ-36 radar in an interview with RBK-Ukraine. However, it remains unclear whether this refers to a system that is conceptually similar to the U.S. radar or to a project involving cooperation with the original manufacturer.

Zhuravlov emphasized that a key advantage for Ukraine's Missile Forces and Artillery has been the establishment of an extensive artillery reconnaissance network, enabled by radar systems supplied as part of international defense assistance. In addition to the AN/TPQ-36, this includes the AN/TPQ-50, AN/TPQ-37, and the Swedish ARTHUR radar systems.
He also noted that Ukraine is working to improve its domestically developed Zoopark-3 radar system, pointing out that in certain parameters it even outperforms Western counterparts, while in others it still lags behind.
As for the AN/TPQ-36 radar, it is worth recalling that the first two units were delivered to Ukraine as early as November 2015 as part of U.S. non-lethal military assistance.

The AN/TPQ-36 is capable of simultaneously detecting and tracking up to 10 weapon types from the first shot, including mortars, artillery systems, and rocket launchers.
Its maximum detection range reaches up to 24 km, while the effective detection range for artillery systems is up to 18 km.
