Completion of the garrison project at Shyroky Lan has marked the initial crucial milestone in bringing Ukraine’s armed services up to NATO interoperability standards, the 57th Brigade said in a statement.
“This has marked the start of a new, qualitative phase in the Ukrainian Armed Forces accepting and adopting NATO standards.
The 57th Brigade in full strength took the field and performed a ceremonial march-past on the parade ground to honor the occasion. Thus began a new chapter in life of our battle borne military unit,” the statement reads.
The new garrison at the Interservice Military Training Center Shyroky Lan has been built to comply with new standards, particularly with regard to a fully autonomous maintenance infrastructure and the incorporation of best international practice developed specifically by NATO countries.
The garrison provides accommodation for 5,000 personnel in 11 barrack buildings, including one women’s quarters.
The Center’s training range allows for the use of personnel and equipment that are organic as well as non-organic to the units being trained.
