The Black Sea Fleet had only one such modern Yuriy Ivanov class intelligence ship of project 18280

After a successful attack on occupied Sevastopol on March 24, Ivan Khurs ship can be added to the list of russian ships destroyed by Ukraine. This is a signals intelligence ship of russian Black Sea Fleet of project 18280. There are only two similar ships in russia. One is for the Black Sea Fleet and one is for the Northern Fleet.

New satellite images, taken after the attack, show that the Ivan Khurs was hit at the stern.

The spokesman of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain 3rd rank Dmytro Pletenchuk claimed that russian ship had sustained damage to its stern intelligence equipment. But the satellite images show that this ship will not be able to perform its intended tasks for a long time.

It is known that the ship's task is to conduct signals intelligence, to record the operation and determine the location of radars, communication systems as well as other enemy systems, both shipboard and stationary, to intercept signals, analyze them, decrypt them, etc.

It should be noted that this ship had already been hit by a kamikaze drone. It happened back on May 24, 2023. Despite russian assurances that the crew was able to repel the attack, a video of drone strike was published. Then satellite images of the ship showed that it had heels.

After another hit, Ivan Khurs was left without electronic signals intelligence systems located in the stern. This is not only external equipment, but also that was inside the ship.

The timeframe for the restoration of Ivan Khurs depends on the workload of russian ship repair facilities in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, as well as access to the equipment that needs to be restored. But under the sanctions, this is almost impossible.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Azov and Yamal landing ships of russian Black Sea Fleet had damaged during Ukrainian massive attack on temporarily occupied Crimea.
