russian forces attempted a rare mechanized assault near Kupiansk, deploying tanks and armored vehicles in an effort to seize the city's left bank. The attack followed what Moscow called "successful negotiations" in Alaska, which seemingly emboldened the occupiers to resume large-scale maneuvers.

The russian column advanced with two tanks, three MT-LB vehicles, and around 40 troops, moving in a push toward Kupiansk's eastern side. The assault marked the first attempt in months by russian forces to conduct such an operation in this sector.

However, the advance was swiftly countered by coordinated Ukrainian units. Fighters of the Achilles 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment, alongside the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the Kara-Dag 15th Brigade of Operational Assignment, engaged the enemy and brought the attack to a halt.

During the battle, Ukrainian forces destroyed all five armored vehicles in the assault group. The decisive response left the enemy's infantry unsupported, forcing them to retreat under heavy losses.

The Achilles Regiment played a crucial role in the defense, striking enemy armor with precision FPV drones. The Achilles operators destroyed one tank and two MT-LB vehicles, while a third MT-LB vehicle was severely damaged.

The engagement demonstrates Ukraine's growing ability to neutralize russian mechanized assaults using a mix of drones, artillery, and infantry coordination. Russian reliance on armor for breakthroughs continues to be undermined by Ukraine's layered defense tactics.

As Defense Express previously reported, fighters of the Asgard FPV unit from the Nemesis 412th Regiment carried out a remarkable operation, destroying over 300 Soviet-made TM-62 anti-tank mines with just a single drone strike. The event highlights how small, inexpensive UAVs can neutralize massive amounts of enemy explosives.
