Ukrainian forces have struck russian Nebo-M long-range radar system in Rostov region, potentially degrading russia's ability to detect Ukrainian long-range weapons approaching the area.
The radar was reportedly targeted near the Millerovo military airfield, an important russian military facility from which Shahed-type attack drones are regularly launched against Ukraine.

Nebo-M system is designed to provide long-range surveillance of the airspace and detect aerial targets at considerable distances. Rather than serving as a weapon itself, the system functions as an early-warning asset, supplying information that can be used by russian air defense and other military units to respond to incoming threats.
The loss of such a system can therefore have an effect beyond the destruction of a single radar. Long-range surveillance is critical for building an accurate picture of the airspace, particularly when defending against low-observable or fast-moving targets and coordinating responses to attacks from different directions.
The 429th Brigade estimated the value of the destroyed radar at approximately $100 million. The figure illustrates the high cost of the specialized long-range surveillance assets russia relies on for its layered air defense network.
