First-Ever Naval Drone Battle: Ukrainian Sargan Destroys russian Unmanned Vessel (Video)

The Black Sea has reportedly seen the first-ever naval engagement between unmanned surface vessels, with a Ukrainian Sargan-3000 naval drone destroying a russian unmanned vessel, according to the Ukrainian Navy

The operation was carried out by the Ukrainian Navy in cooperation with Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence. The russian vessel was detected by Defense Intelligence units before the engagement.

The Ukrainian Sargan-3000 unmanned surface vessel, equipped with a Protector remote weapon station armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun, then engaged and destroyed the target.

The Ukrainian Navy described the incident as the first naval battle in history between unmanned surface vessels.

The Sargan-3000 has previously demonstrated its ability to engage surface targets, but this incident is notable because the target was itself an unmanned surface vessel.

As previously reported by Defense Express, on the night of September 8–9, the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched a combined strike on the russian military port of Novorossiysk.

The Admiral Essen frigate, a Project 11356R ship armed with 3M14 Kalibr cruise missiles, was struck, while a Project 21631 Buyan-M-class corvette and the Admiral Makarov frigate were also damaged. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence confirmed the strike on the Admiral Essen
