The Brave1 participant is testing high-speed interceptors with autonomous guidance to protect large perimeters

Protecting Ukraine's skies from hostile drones remains one of the top priorities for the country's defense sector. MaXon, a participant in the Brave1 defense innovation cluster, is developing an air-to-air air defense system equipped with its own targeting system and high-speed interceptors capable of securing large perimeters. The system is already undergoing combat trials in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

Unlike traditional ground-based anti-drone systems, MaXon's solution focuses on aerial interception. Its high-speed drones engage incoming enemy UAVs in the air, neutralizing threats before they can reach their targets. The company emphasizes that this approach allows for more effective protection over wider areas, including critical infrastructure and urban centers.

The project has received critical support from Brave1, enabling MaXon to successfully close its first round of investments. Funding was secured from Freedom Fund and Defender Ventures, both of which are known for supporting innovative defense projects with rapid battlefield applications.

With early testing underway, MaXon continues to raise additional capital in the next investment round. The goal is to accelerate research and development, optimize manufacturing, and scale production to meet Ukraine's urgent air defense needs.

One of the notable aspects of the MaXon project is its integration of solutions from other Brave1 participants. The air defense system incorporates components, software, and targeting technologies developed by partner companies within the cluster, demonstrating how coordinated innovation can yield powerful results.

This collaborative model is at the core of Brave1's mission, creating an ecosystem where diverse technological developments can be combined into systems greater than the sum of their parts. In wartime, such synergy enables rapid deployment of solutions that would take years to develop in isolation.

As Defense Express previously reported, the Ukrainian Air Force has released a new set of photographs highlighting the meticulous preparation of the Su-27 fighter jet ahead of a combat mission. The images, published on the official page of the Air Force Command, capture every stage of the process – from thorough checks of onboard systems and weapons to fine-tuning equipment and inspecting engines.
