According to Atesh, its agents set fire to critical components of a VL80 mainline freight electric locomotive, rendering it inoperable. The group claims this action disrupted russian supply routes supporting forces operating toward the Sumy axis.
"This electric locomotive will go nowhere. russia's supply chain has taken another hit. While they scramble to find a replacement, shells and equipment will not reach the front on time," the movement said in a statement.

The VL80 is a heavy freight locomotive widely used on russian railways to haul multi-ton military trains. Atesh stated that the destroyed unit had been actively involved in transporting equipment, ammunition, and fuel from rear areas to border regions in support of russian troops operating toward Sumy.
Earlier, on January 21, Atesh reported another successful railway sabotage in Belgorod Oblast, where partisans destroyed a relay cabinet. That operation reportedly halted ammunition trains supplying russia's North group operating in the Kharkiv direction.
Previously, Defense Express reported that Ukrainian partisans conducted reconnaissance of the 13th Ship Repair Yard of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and identified the facility's precise coordinates.
Defense Express also reported that Atesh agents had located a strategic oil depot in Oryol region supplying russian forces operating near Kharkiv and Kursk.
