The russian massive combined missile and drone strike on Ukraine on the night of Tuesday, June 2, became the most massive in terms of the use of ballistic weapons since the beginning of the year and was distinguished by somewhat updated tactics.

According to the report of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian terrorists used a total of 729 long-range weapons. Of these weapons, the russians used 656 unmanned aerial vehicles and 73 missiles of various types - with an obvious focus on ballistic and hypersonic missiles, the number of which prevailed over cruise missiles.

The russians launched 8 Zircon hypersonic missiles (none were intercepted), 33 Iskander ballistic missiles (11 were destroyed), 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles (26 were intercepted), and 5 Kalibr cruise missiles (3 were destroyed). The Defense Forces also intercepted 602 UAVs, which is 92% of all used.
Thus, the enemy attack on the night of June 2, at least since the beginning of the year, became the most massive in terms of the use of ballistic and hypersonic weapons. In terms of the volume of ballistic missiles used, the enemy exceeded the attack on February 3 of this year by one missile, when it attacked Ukraine with 32 ballistic missiles of various types. As then, the main target of the enemy strikes was Kyiv city, and as now, only 11 ballistic missiles were intercepted.
This attack also marked the largest simultaneous use of Zircon hypersonic missiles launched from occupied Crimea and, for the second time, from the Kursk region.
If the russians did not reload the launchers, this means that the enemy already has four launchers of the modernized Bastion-M missile systems. It is worth recalling that one such launcher of Zircon hypersonic missiles was destroyed in occupied Crimea in March of this year.

In general, the russians used tactics according to which ballistic and hypersonic missiles finally became the main means of destruction, which, in particular, were launched in groups of 8 units over Kyiv.
The enemy’s general calculation was obviously to overload the missile defense system and to exhaust the reserves of anti-ballistic missiles for the Patriot SAM system.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the russian strike injured more than 100 people and killed 13. Four people were killed and more than 60 injured in Kyiv, including three children.
