To strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities, NOMADS anti-aircraft missile systems were ordered from the Norwegian company Kongsberg. Eight units have already been delivered to Ukraine, and Germany is providing the funding for this purchase.
According to GAU, representatives of the German company FFG shared this information with Jeff21461 observer at the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition. FFG manufactures and supplies the ACSV G5 chassis for these systems.

In June 2024, it became known that Germany was considering purchasing NOMADS to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. However, no firm contract was publicly announced, and there were no updates on the project's status, which is not surprising, since in 2025 Germany changed its approach and classified most of its military aid.
However, in January 2026, reports emerged that Ukraine had received eight ACSV G5s from FFG. No details regarding the delivery were provided at the time, but it was noted that it was funded by Germany, which aligns with the current number of Norwegian air defense systems transferred.

From Defense Express we would like to note that in September 2025, a possible order of the NOMADS system for Ukraine was discussed. At that time, a self-propelled mortar mounted on an ACSV G5 chassis appeared with a Ukrainian flag, which hinted at a delivery to Ukraine, and, given the earlier German plans announced, an air defense system made the most sense.
Since the arrival of the ACSV G5 was first reported back in January 2026, it can be assumed that the Norwegian air defense systems had already been deployed in Ukraine by that time. However, they may have arrived even earlier, as there is no precise information on this.

As for NOMADS, they are short-range air defense systems capable of firing either AIM-9X air-to-air missiles or IRIS-T SLS anti-aircraft missiles. The latter are already being used in Ukraine from individual launchers as part of the Iris-T SLM systems.
A key feature of the system is that each vehicle is equipped with its own radar, allowing it to operate autonomously. It is also reported that the system can be fitted with electronic warfare equipment and a remotely controlled turret.
