The newly disclosed details reveal the range, warhead options, launch statistics, and funding behind the Bars RS missile-drone program

During Eurosatory 2026, held in Paris on June 15–19, Ukraine showcased the Bars RS cruise missile, which may have been used in large-scale strikes against Moscow on May 17 and June 18, 2026.

The name of the manufacturer remains classified for operational security reasons. However, newly disclosed technical specifications provide a first opportunity to assess the missile’s capabilities and differences compared with the baseline Bars variant.

Janes reported, citing representatives of the unnamed manufacturer, that Bars cruise missiles have already been used in strikes against russia at ranges of up to 1,000 km.

The Bars RS variant differs from the original missile through a larger fuel tank, increased maximum takeoff weight, and a heavier warhead.

More specifically, the Bars RS reportedly carries a 22 kg warhead, has a maximum takeoff weight of 135 kg, and is equipped with a 95-liter fuel tank.

The manufacturer also claims that another Bars variant exists with a maximum takeoff weight of up to 220 kg. The Bars family is reportedly available with several warhead configurations, including 22 kg, 60 kg, and 105 kg warheads.

The company also stated that the Bars family has already accumulated approximately 7,000 launches. During these tests and combat uses, the missile reportedly demonstrated a cruise speed of 400–450 km/h and a maximum speed of 620 km/h.

Defense Express previously reported that the appearance of the mass-produced Ukrainian Bars cruise missile was finally revealed in December 2025. At that time, detailed technical specifications remained unknown, but evidence had already emerged of large-scale Bars strikes against targets in Russia, with missile salvos reportedly reaching up to 100 units.

The use of Bars missiles in strikes against Moscow in May and June 2026 has been supported by videos shared on social media. russian sources have suggested that at least two Bars variants may have been involved in the May strike on the russian capital, including the Bars RS and the Bars SM Gladiator.

According to publicly available information, Germany is financing the production of this long-range Ukrainian strike weapon.
