Seven Latvian companies produced combat drones of various types for Ukraine

Latvia is ready to provide Ukraine with 2500 drones. They will arrive gradually over the course of the month as part of the drone coalition initiative. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Latvia on Friday, July 5.

It is stated that combat drones of various types and purposes worth about 4 million euros were manufactured by seven Latvian companies.

"The first delivery from this batch - 300 drones - will arrive in the next few days," the statement reads.

The Ministry of Defense of Latvia has allocated 20 million euros for drones For 2024. More than 10 million will be purchased for UAVs from its own defense industry.

FPV drones will be a priority in deliveries this year. In April and May, Latvia handed over 135 combat drones for various purposes and electronic warfare equipment worth about €1 million to Ukraine.

The Defense Ministry of Latvia remindes that there are currently 14 countries in the drone coalition. In addition to Latvia, which leads the coalition, it also includes Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and Australia. These countries have raised more than €500 million to supply Ukraine with drones. They are working to create a joint fund that will allow them to finance drone production faster and more efficiently.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Czech Republic had launched production of reconnaissance and strike UAVs for Ukraine.
