20:48 Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak in a commentary to the mass media: Lifting international sanctions against the Russian Federation is not part of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

“Definitely, the issue of global international sanctions against Russia is not part of talks at all. The reasons for the international community to introduce them have not yet been eliminated, namely the occupation of some parts of Ukraine’s territory and the treacherous violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. And, of course, sanctions cannot be discussed with Ukraine without the involvement of all other countries, as they had been introduced by the entire civilized world in response to Russia’s absolutely barbaric behavior,” Podoliak told.

The relevant statement was made by the U.S. Senior Defense Official during a phone briefing on Friday, Ukrinform reports.

“We believe they [Russians – Ed.] are at least several days behind where they wanted to be,” the Senior Defense Official said.

In his words, this is a general assessment, as the situation may vary on the line, whether it’s from the north or the south.

In eastern Ukraine, Russians meant to be much further along, in terms of a total encirclement of Ukrainian troops.

According to the Senior Defense Official, Ukrainians are putting up a strong resistance throughout the area.

Russians continue to set conditions for a sustained and larger and longer offensive, launching artillery and airstrikes against Ukrainian positions. But, according to the Pentagon, these strikes are not having the effect that Russians want them to, and thus, Russia’s ground movements are fairly plodding.

01:25 Russians have a shortage of precision missiles – Pentagon

During a closed briefing for media representatives, a senior defense official at the US Department of Defense shared intelligence assessments. In particular, he said russian occupiers have used more than 1,950 missiles on Ukraine, mostly on Mariupol. Notably, a "predominance of the ordinance being dropped is dumb ordinance, not precision-guided, and we think that that speaks to challenges that the Russians are having with PGM replenishment," as the official stated.

Besides, the Pentagon official informed that in the last 24 hours, "there have been almost 20 deliveries [of arms] via airlift from seven different nations that have been received in the region at multiple locations", which included "everything from mines to small caliber rounds and rockets, 122-millimeter rockets, helmets, body armor" and other unspecified things, as well as 155mm artillery rounds from the United States.

According to the defense official, "more than a dozen flights" with military aid shipments from the USA are expected with howitzers, more 155mm rounds to them, some of those Phoenix Ghost UAVs, and radars.
