South Korea continues to conduct tests with its prototypes of the KF-21 fighter

South Korea's Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) company keeps testing weapons for the KF-21 fighter jet as part of an extensive weapons test program for the aircraft that began on March 28.

As noted, the launch of the missile was carried out from the second prototype of the South Korean fighter KF-21 on April 4. In general, this is the second weapon test with the KF-21 that has been conducted recently.

Thus, earlier Defense Express reported about the second and third prototypes of the KF-21 fighters demonstrated the successful launch of the MBDA Meteor air-to-air guided missile, as well as showed the operation of the 20 mm gun.

As a result, two air-to-air missiles out of the four that are supposed to arm the aircraft have already been tested: in addition to Meteor and IRIS-T, these are also the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9X.

Defense Express reminds that the KF-21 is the newest Korean fighter, which has been under development since 2001 and its first flight took place in July 2021. Currently, the company plans to conduct about 2,000 test flights and start serial production in three years, which is in 2026.

In two years (in 2028) it is planned to supply at least 40 aircraft, while by 2032 it is planned to deliver a total of 120 aircraft to the South Korean army.

Defense Express states that despite the fact that there are currently only four prototypes of the KF-21 fighter, which made its first flight in February. Poland is already considering this aircraft for purchase, and in fact such an option does not seem unlikely.
