This is stated in the response to the relevant request, which Glavkom.UA received from the Ukrainian military.
From Defense Express, we add that the number of 837 pieces of equipment may seem small when compared to other sources, which claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine received even more equipment as trophies, including tanks, armored fighting vehicles and other military vehicles. For example, the Oryx project claims that during a full-scale war, the warriors of the Defense Forces of Ukraine could capture as trophies not only 549 tanks, but also almost 1,000 combat armored vehicles of various types and purposes, 125 engineering vehicles of various types, 96 towed guns, 107 self-propelled guns and 52 MLRSs.

However, the actual number of captured vehicles turned out to be lower due to the fact that many of the vehicles abandoned by the russian occupiers were in poor condition and needed serious repairs. Some of them may also have been lost in action or unrecoverable. This explains the difference in numbers and highlights the importance of accuracy when analyzing trophy weaponry data.
This may be especially important because Western analysts quite often perceived such figures as an absolute value, which led to false conclusions, and this, in turn, could form "heated" sentiments in the West regarding the offensive of the Armed Forces in the Southern direction.
As an example, we can mention one of the publications of the Bloomberg, whose analysts for some reason decided that the Armed Forces of Ukraine should gain a quantitative advantage over the russian army thanks to trophy tanks, and at the same time cited figures about as many as 1,800 tanks at Ukraine’s Army disposal as well as only 1,400 tanks at the disposal of the enemy.
But when the Russian occupiers abandon their equipment on the battlefield, to put it mildly, they do not leave these vehicles in a fully functional condition, with the necessary supply of ammunition and components, and other vehicles can be used as donors for their restoration. In addition, trophy vehicles can also be lost on the battlefield. Therefore, the real number of trophy cars, which are then used on the battlefield, is lower than the number of trophies actually won.
