A fighter from the Bulava unit destroyed two russian Shahed drones at an unprecedented distance of 500 km using remote control technology

Ukrainian drone operator has reportedly set a new world record in long-range remote interception, successfully destroying two russian attack drones from a distance of 500 kilometers. The engagement, carried out by a fighter from the Bulava unit, highlights the rapidly evolving capabilities of Ukraine's unmanned warfare systems.

Footage of the interception was released on April 4 via the brigade's official channels, showing the destruction of two Shahed-136 drones. These loitering munitions have been widely used by russian forces in strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure, making their interception a priority for air defense units.

According to the unit, the operator, identified by the call sign Hulk, conducted the engagement using the Hornet Vision Ctrl system. This technology enabled the operator to control the interception platform at an unprecedented range, far beyond typical line-of-sight or standard drone engagement distances.

The reported distance of 500 kilometers between the operator and the interception point represents a significant milestone in remote warfare. If verified, this would mark the first known instance globally where an operator has successfully engaged and destroyed aerial targets at such range, and notably, eliminated two drones in a single operation.

This development underscores a broader trend in the decentralization of combat operations, where operators can engage targets far from their physical location. Such capabilities not only increase operational flexibility but also enhance survivability by keeping personnel away from immediate danger zones.
