Ukrainian drone forces methodically struck multiple air defense systems, dealing a significant financial and operational blow

Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces have reported a series of successful strikes against high-value russian air defense systems over the past week, underscoring a continued focus on degrading the enemy's layered air defense network.

According to the statement, Ukrainian forces struck several key systems, including russian S-350 Vityaz, Tor-M2KM, Tor-M2, and Osa surface-to-air missile systems. These assets form a critical part of russia's short- and medium-range air defense architecture, designed to protect both frontline units and strategic infrastructure from aerial threats.

The scale of the damage is particularly notable. Ukrainian officials estimate that the total value of the destroyed or damaged systems exceeds $205 million. This figure reflects not only the cost of the hardware itself but also the broader logistical and industrial burden required to replace such advanced systems under wartime conditions and sanctions pressure.

The strikes appear to be part of a deliberate strategy aimed at systematically eroding russia's air defense capabilities. By targeting these systems, Ukraine seeks to open corridors for further drone and missile operations, while also reducing the effectiveness of russian defenses against aerial reconnaissance and strike missions.

Footage of the combat operations, released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shows the precision and coordination achieved by drone operators. The ability to identify, track, and successfully engage mobile air defense systems highlights growing Ukrainian proficiency in unmanned warfare.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian border guard drone operators have carried out a series of precision strikes against russian military assets. The operation was conducted by the Prime strike drone company of the 5th Border Detachment, with footage of the engagement released by Ukraine's State Border Guard Service on April 26.
