Drone operators of the Dnipro-1 Regiment of the United Assault Brigade Rage of the National Police of Ukraine have destroyed a rare russian reconnaissance UAV known as Prince Veshiy Oleg (Prince Oleg the Prophet) — a relatively new aircraft-type drone reportedly used for deep battlefield surveillance

The National Police of Ukraine reported that russian forces recently began deploying this new unmanned system within the brigade's area of responsibility.

The drone is described as an aircraft-type UAV primarily intended for deep reconnaissance missions. Despite russian claims regarding its effectiveness, Ukrainian operators quickly detected, identified, and destroyed the target.

"The fighters of Rage continue adding rare enemy "birds" to the blacklist. Once again, our UAV operators have proven that Ukrainian skies are closed to the occupiers," the National Police emphasized.

The Prince Veshiy Oleg UAV is reportedly a relatively new russian development with the following characteristics:

  • Maximum speed: up to 130 km/h
  • Maximum flight altitude: up to 100 meters
  • Operational range: up to 45 km

According to russian sources, the drone's alleged "key advantage" is its claimed high survivability — supposedly because Ukrainian forces might mistake it for their own UAVs.

The system is designed to conduct aerial reconnaissance, adjust artillery fire, and assess the effectiveness of strike drone operations. However, its destruction demonstrates that even newly introduced russian platforms remain vulnerable to Ukrainian counter-UAV capabilities.
