The 40th Brigade combines naval and aerial drone power, hitting russian vessel with a coordinated unmanned assault

The 40th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade has carried out an innovative maritime operation, combining surface and aerial unmanned systems in a single coordinated strike. Using the Barracuda unmanned boat, Ukrainian forces successfully delivered FPV drones that executed a surprise attack on russian vessel.

A video of the operation, released by the Brigade, shows how the integration of naval and aerial drones can dramatically enhance the speed, precision, and safety of combat missions. This marks another step in Ukraine's growing mastery of unmanned warfare across multiple domains.

"Our boat delivered FPV drones for a sudden strike on an enemy craft. The operation was completed quickly, accurately, and without risk to our troops," the Brigade reported.

The emphasis on minimizing risk highlights how Ukraine continues to adapt its tactics to save lives while maintaining offensive capability.

The operation reflects a wider trend in Ukraine's defense strategy, using technological creativity and resourcefulness to counter a numerically superior adversary. The Barracuda drone boat serves not only as a weapon but as a transport and coordination platform, capable of extending the range and flexibility of Ukraine's drone forces.

By using the Barracuda system to deploy FPV drones at sea, the 40th Brigade has effectively expanded the role of unmanned systems into amphibious and littoral warfare. This innovation allows drones to be launched from unexpected vectors, making enemy detection and interception far more difficult.

The brigade underscored that such hybrid operations significantly improve strike efficiency.

"Modern technologies serve defense and save lives," the Brigade stated.

As Defense Express previously reported, the 704th Separate Brigade of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense has showcased its combat operations using the Sivalka VM-8 flamethrower systems. The demonstration, published by the Support Forces Command, highlights the growing role of specialized troops in supporting offensive and defensive actions along the front lines.
